Celestia posted by James on 10.07.04
Totally unrelated to SPF, but cool non the less, is a program that I stumbled across this week. I was reading Discover magazine and found an article on this program, Celestia, which is a program that simulates our solar system. And I suggest anyone that is curious about space to check it out.
What really rocks about the program is that you can move and view the solar system at different velocities and lock on to spacecraft to follow their voyages. You can speed between real time and accelerated time to see the paths of planets, spacecraft and other celestial bodies.
You can set the program to any point in time to see what position the planets were in on any given date. If you find the article you can learn how it was made and all the other interesting tidbits about how it can be used. I suggest the demo mode to se it's potential. Anyway, I’ve rambled on long enough.
