Chicago Salad
posted by AT on 12.05.04

A little more than a week ago, the entire SPF gang trekked on down to Chicago to witness the nuptials of one of our own. Scott and I were in my car, and the six hour-plus ride there and back gave us plenty of time to reflect on all things SPF. Most notably, neither one of us is happy with the slow production pace of revisions, and we both want to work to see that it is completed as soon as possible. There have been a few landmark successes recently, the biggest being the completion of the first rough cut, so things are indeed moving. We will continue to plug away at the giant jigsaw puzzle that is revisions and keep you updated on our progress via the mailing list. Again, for those who are not yet on the mailing list, the signup box is in the top right-hand corner of this website. We've recently re-commissioned our monthly newsletter, so you'll consistently have a pretty good idea of where we're at.

Another car ride conversation topic was Scott's desire to revisit his nearly ten-year-old project, In Our Salad Days. The short film project was originally released in 1996, and Scott has always expressed interest in revamping it. I scored the original, but will produce an entirely new soundtrack for the re-do version. I'm looking forward to working on the music very much, as I have in essence been given a free ticket to be as abstract and creative as I wish. Scott will give me general descriptions, moods, and tempos for the five or so different pieces, and I'll basically start with a blank canvas and see what happens. We've talked loosely about a joint DVD/CD release of the film and soundtrack; that is, of course, very premature. We'll keep you updated as things happen.
